Focus on Health Care

Proper healthcare systems are still unattainable luxuries in some regions of the world. But preventing illness is not the only challenge. Once an individual becomes ill, access to health care varies widely: poor populations tend to have less access to health care.

Poor children live much shorter lives than children from wealthy families, in part due to inadequate health care. A boy who was born in 2012 in a high-income country can expect to live 75.8 years—more than 15 years longer than a boy born in a low-income country.

For those less fortunate, even small interventions—from improved hygiene to vaccinations—can make a big difference.

Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Health

Through the support of IRUSA donors, communities all around the world are given the tools they need to empower themselves toward healthy living.  By working together to provide access to basic necessities, like soap and mosquito netting, to large-scale pharmaceuticals, sanitation programs, and even hygiene training, IRUSA donors make a powerful and concrete impact on the lives of the most vulnerable.

In emergency crises, our field teams respond immediately with emergency aid. And we stay to implement long-term health care projects, such as restocking damaged hospitals to building specialized units to help diabetes patients to providing mobile health clinics to reach populations in remote areas.

Here’s just a sampling of our recent health efforts:

  • Providing innovative medical technology and supplies to physical therapy center in Yemen to help those in need of orthopedics and prosthetics.
  • Creating new health centers in rural areas of Albania, where 80% of facilities do not have proper infrastructure, water access, medicines, electricity, and more.
  • Making primary health services accessible for some 37,500 Palestinian refugees in Beit Hanoun.

We Need YOUR Help
